The Nigerian Navy Secondary School (NNSS) Ojo, Lagos was established on 4 January 1982 as a co-educational secondary school to cater for the educational needs of officers and ratings’ children including children/wards of civilians. The school is situated at Navy Town in the present Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area.
The school started as a co-educational day school with 135 students and an academic staff strength of 10, including 2 youth corps members. Subsequently, the school became a co-educational boarding school. The first WASSCE result was outstanding and this resulted in population explosion. Due to the increase in population and limited boarding house facilities, the boys were de-boarded and it became a quasi boarding school for only girls. At present, the school has boarding facilities for over 1000 girls. The School houses are divided into 4 and named after former Chiefs of the Naval Staff. They are: WEY, SOROH, ADUWO and ADELANWA with a combined boarding and day enrolment of students. The school has a staff strength drawn from military personnel, MOD and contract staff as well as youth corps members’.
NNSS OJO has consistently maintained a high standard of average performance of 91% - 100% in WAEC and NECO examinations. In co-curricular activities, the school has consistently participated and excelled in
debates and public speaking activities. Also, discipline and hardwork remain the school’s watchwords. The school management and naval personnel ensure the discipline of students and their morals are built on a solid foundation.
