Nigerian Navy Secondary School (NNSS) Umuopu is located in   Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State. It was            established as a full-boarding, comprehensive, and co-educational   institution to strengthen the Nigerian Navy’s educational presence and community engagement within the South-East region. NNSS Umuopu commenced academic activities on 28 September 2025, welcoming the  pioneer intakes of JSS1 and JSS2 students. The schools is sited on a land area of 101, 446, 451 square meters and currently has a student population of 314, comprising 229 males and 85 females. Just like in other Nigerian Navy Secondary Schools, the student body has been divided into four houses to foster healthy competition, camaraderie, and school spirit.The houses are named after former Chiefs of the Naval Staff: Vice Admiral EI Ogalla, Vice Admiral AZ Gambo, Vice Admiral IE Ibas and Vice Admiral VK Ombu.

 The staff strength includes 11 officers, 62 ratings, and 9 NYSC  members. The school is led by Captain EO Egwurube as                   Commandant, with Lieutenant Commander JM Ogwuche serving    as Deputy Commandant. NNSS Umuopu is equipped with modern and well-planned infrastructure that provides a conducive environment for teaching, learning, and character development. The school’s facilities are    thoughtfully designed to support academic excellence and adhere to the   Nigerian Navy’s educational standards. The classrooms, administrative blocks and essential support structures are built to high-quality standards, ensuring a safe, orderly and efficient environment for both students and staff.
